The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) is a directory of electronic journals that are freely accessible on the Internet according to the principles of Open Access. It currently lists more than 19,770 journals and over 9 million articles (as of August 2023).

The directory was launched in 2003 at Lund University in Sweden; since 2013, it has been operated by the British non-profit organization IS4OA. The goal of DOAJ is to increase the accessibility, reputation, and use of high-quality Open Access scholarly journals worldwide, regardless of discipline, country of origin, or language. The DOAJ team works closely with editors, publishers and journal owners to help them increase the visibility and value of their publications. DOAJ is committed to being 100% independent and to managing all of its services and metadata in a way that is free for anyone to use or reuse.

The Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB) is a catalog of freely accessible monographs. Its aim is to improve the visibility and reputation of quality-assured open access monographs. At the same time, it is also a directory of open-access publishers. Currently, the DOAB includes around 70,000 books and book chapters from 674 publishers (as of August 2023).

DOAB is operated by the OAPEN Foundation (Netherlands), which emerged from an EU-funded project involving several university presses.
