Are you planning on visiting our library for the first time? Do you live more than 50 km from Münster? To avoid unnecessary delays, our information department will help you prepare for your first visit.
If you plan on visiting the ULB frequently, you should apply for a library card in order to check out items from our extensive collection.

How to prepare for your first library visit

  • Search KatalogPlus, to find the items you want. Create a title list with the following information
    • author’s last and first name
    • title (short form)

    • place of publication
    • year of publication
    • location
    • shelfmark
  • Send us your list approx. eight days prior to your arrival in Münster via email: ulb@uni-muenster.de
  • If you are mostly interested in early printings and manuscripts, you can instead contact the employees of the manuscript department directly handschriften.ulb@uni-muenster.de or use the manuscript department’s registration form.
Information about the manuscript reading room can be found on our webpage.
  • Please provide us with an email address, telephone number, or fax number in addition to your complete address, so that we can contact you quickly, if necessary.
