For new users

Welcome to the University and State Library of Münster!

In response to the Coronavirus pandemic the ULB can only be used to a limited extent, which is why not all of the information (linked) below is currently applicable.
For details please see the FAQs or the service overview [de].

How do you get a library card?

For students of the University of Münster, the student ID card serves as the library card. The card, however, needs to be activated by the ULB. You can initiate the activation online at any time, or during the opening hours at the service desk in the entrance hall of the ULB.

How do you find the book you are looking for?

The search for a book, a journal or an article is always conducted either in the ULB catalogue [de] or in the search portal disco. There, you can identify the location and the shelfmark of the desired item. On the “Search” page, you will find all our important catalogues and subject specific databases for further research. It is, of course, possible to use our catalogues, databases and online publications (e-books, e-journals, etc.) at home or while travelling.
Information about off-campus research

If the desired item is located in the ULB, you will need to determine the location and the loan conditions. We have arranged a detailed overview for you.
Locating the book

You will find help with your research at our information desk on the ground floor of the ULB. For more complex and subject specific problems you may also consult subject experts.
